Samsung M02S Review: The Budget Friendly, Stylish Phone You Need
Samsung M02S Review:
The first thing that you notice about the phone is its name, the Samsung M02S, which is nothing more than a glorified J2 or any other budget phone in the market. However, with a bit of customization, the device can turn into the ultimate cheap phone that’s perfect for those who want a good handset at a bargain price. Design & Build Quality Out of the box, the phone comes with a whole host of pre-installed apps, including the usual mess of security tools, and a few apps I would have never installed on any phone in the first place. The Galaxy M02S comes with some fairly hefty bezels on the top and bottom part of the device, which is probably why it packs a 5-inch display.
Design and Display:
Metal Body Compact 5.1” HD display The Samsung M02S is another budget friendly smartphone, but doesn’t look too bad. The back cover is made out of polycarbonate, and it’s quite flexible. However, it doesn’t have the same premium feel as the ZTE Blade V8 or even the MIUI flavored HTC Desire HD. The front looks great, with a full length standard 5.1” qHD AMOLED touchscreen display (540 x 960 pixels). It has a capacitive touchscreen with a pixel density of 294 ppi and is covered with a glass on top which comes off and onto the back. As with most budget phones, the M02S does not have any physical buttons or ports for charging or data transfer. The only thing there is a 3.5mm headset jack at the top.
Camera:
The device sports a 13MP f/2.0 main snapper with LED flash. The selfie camera is an 8MP one which is powered by LED flash as well. Both of them have full HD video recording capabilities. The camera app offers several modes like Panorama, Pro mode, Beauty mode, Sound & Shot, Food mode, Time-Lapse, Slow-mo etc. It also features portrait mode which blurs out the background. However, the internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. The device comes with 3000mAh battery that keeps the lights on and supports fast charging. Display It sports a 5.
Storage:
1x MicroSD Card Adventures of Ooo Images Via Image Temple (on Instagram) The Helio P10/Mali-T860 combo offers some surprisingly good internal specs, especially in the RAM department. The Helio P10 is an octa-core 64-bit processor with an ARM Cortex-A53 core (1.8GHz), PowerVR G6200 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and Mali-T860 MP4 GPU. This has allowed the device to handle pretty heavy games with ease, while also providing enough power to run things like Instagram without issue. The Mali-T860 is a pretty capable GPU, and plays nice with a lot of older games. Battery Life:
Battery life on the M02S is great. To test the battery performance, we performed a series of four 10 minute tests. One test was battery drain on the M02S while running around for a couple of hours with the media player app set to shuffle every 5 minutes and keep a minimum of 25MB of data. The next test was battery drain while browsing Facebook (while using a set app background image, the MB status icon, and a fixed background image). The third test was 10 minutes of video playback with the screen set to dim, the volume at max, and the background image set to static. The last test was set to show the current time and the network bars on the lock screen, with the screen set to a brightness of 50 percent and the volume at 70 percent.
Conclusion:
A few phone companies have taken the challenge to bring both budget and stylish products to the market. TCL Chinese smartphone brand is a brand that has been consistent in bringing its budget phones with dual cameras, dual-cameras and dual-cameras with 4GB RAM. The launch of its flagship line is almost just around the corner but that doesn’t mean that it is afraid to bring budget friendly devices as well. Keeping in mind the kind of devices that the company is launching, the budget device is definitely a welcome news. And for the same, we have reviewed one such device – the TCL M02S – that comes with premium design and offers great value for money. Now that we have the display, camera, and overall specifications covered, it is time for the M02S to tell its tale.
